Zombie Survival Camp – The Ultimate Guide
Zombie Survival Camp: Everything You Need to Know Before the Zombies Arrive
Think you have what it takes to survive the apocalypse?
At Zombie Survival Training Camp at Camp Bernie, teens ages 12–17 will spend a weekend learning survival skills, completing challenges, working with their team and—ultimately—trying to stay one step ahead of the zombies.
Whether you’re already counting down to the zombie apocalypse or you’re wondering exactly what you signed up for, here’s everything you need to know before you arrive at Zombie Camp.
Is Zombie Survival Camp actually scary?
Well…there are zombies. So expect some suspense, surprises, zombie makeup and plenty of opportunities to test your courage.
But this isn’t a haunted house. You’re part of the action. Zombie Survival Camp is an interactive, supervised adventure where campers train, explore, work together and put their new survival skills to the test.
What happens during Zombie Camp?
Throughout the weekend, campers will learn the skills they’ll need to survive a zombie outbreak—including:
- Survival strategies
- Stealth and evasion
- Resource gathering
- Teamwork and communication
- Basic first aid
- Zombie defense
Then comes the moment you’ve been training for: the zombie apocalypse simulation.
On the last day of camp, you’ll work with your team to navigate Camp Bernie, locate resources, make decisions, avoid zombies, and put your training into action.
Your mission is simple: Survive.
Will the Zombies chase me?
Possibly. 👀
Zombie encounters are part of the simulation, but everything takes place within structured, supervised activities. Campers will learn the rules before the action begins, and trained Camp Bernie staff will be there throughout the weekend.
Getting tagged by a zombie is part of the game—not a real medical emergency!
What if I've never done survival activities before?
That’s completely fine.
You don’t need to arrive knowing how to survive in the wilderness—or how to escape a zombie horde. That’s what Zombie Survival Training Camp is for.
You’ll learn new skills throughout the weekend and have plenty of opportunities to practice them with your team.
Is Zombie Survival Camp like a haunted house?
Not quite.
At a haunted house, you walk through and watch the action happen around you. At Zombie Survival Camp, you’re the one making the decisions.
Should you hide?
Should you keep moving?
Where are the supplies?
Who has your back?
Your choices—and your team—could make all the difference.
Will I be outside the whole weekend?
You’ll spend plenty of time outside exploring the woods, fields and camp property, so come prepared for outdoor activities and October weather.
You’ll also have a comfortable place to return to when it’s time to regroup.
Campers stay in heated, dormitory-style cabins with electricity.
What about food?
Don’t worry—survival doesn’t mean going hungry.
All meals are included during Zombie Survival Training Camp, so you’ll have plenty of fuel for your weekend of training and zombie evasion.
What if I don't like spooky stuff?
Zombie Camp definitely has a spooky, adventurous theme, so expect some suspense, dramatic makeup and surprises. Most of the weekend will be spent learning new skills and training for the simulation. The zombies only come out on the last day.
If you’re looking for an action-packed teen camp where you can test your skills, work with friends and experience a zombie apocalypse, you’re in the right place.
Can I come with friends?
Absolutely!
In fact, having a good survival team might be one of your biggest advantages.
You’ll work together throughout the weekend, so bring your best teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. Just remember: when the zombies arrive, everyone needs to pull their weight.
What if we run out of supplies?
Resource gathering is part of your training, and during the zombie apocalypse simulation, you’ll have to figure out how to find what you need.
Choose wisely.
What if I get tagged by a Zombie?
Don’t panic!
If a zombie tags you during the simulation, that’s part of the game. You’ll learn the rules of the zombie encounters before the simulation starts, so you’ll know exactly what to expect.
And remember: it’s pretend.
What should I bring to Zombie Survival Camp?
Pack for a weekend of outdoor adventure. You’ll want comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes for exploring the camp property, along with layers appropriate for October weather.
You’ll also need your usual overnight camp essentials, toiletries and sleeping supplies. Be sure to check your registration information for the complete packing list and any camp-specific instructions.
Will I be supervised?
Yes.
Campers are supervised throughout the weekend by trained Camp Bernie staff and counselors. Activities and the zombie apocalypse simulation are structured with safety in mind, and campers will receive instructions before participating.
Do I have what it takes to survive?
There’s only one way to find out.
Gather your team. Learn the skills. Keep your eyes open.
The zombies are coming to Camp Bernie.
Are you ready?
Ready to train?
Zombie Survival Training Camp is a weekend adventure for teens ages 12–17 who are ready to step outside their comfort zone, learn new skills and see if they have what it takes to survive the apocalypse.
Just remember: The first rule of zombie survival is to never underestimate the zombies.
