Supporting Youth in 07865: How Camp Bernie Helps Kids Grow Through Adventure
When people search for “07865 youth charities”, they may be looking for organizations that are making a meaningful difference for children and families in the local community. At YMCA Camp Bernie, helping young people grow has always been at the heart of what we do.
Located on 247 acres in the Schooley’s Mountain Range in Port Murray, New Jersey, Camp Bernie is more than a place for summer fun. As part of the Ridgewood YMCA, Camp Bernie is a nonprofit organization committed to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
A place where kids can grow
Every child deserves opportunities to explore, build confidence, make friends, and discover what they are capable of.
At Camp Bernie, those opportunities happen every day. Whether a child is spending their first summer away from home, trying a new challenge course, hiking through the woods, working as part of a team, or simply making a new friend, camp provides experiences that can help young people grow in ways that last long after the summer ends.
Our programs are guided by the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Campers are encouraged to try new things, take healthy risks, support one another, and build what we call Camp Bernie Confidence.
Supporting Access to Camp For All
One of the most important ways Camp Bernie serves young people is by helping make camp accessible to families regardless of financial circumstances.
Through financial assistance and camp scholarships, the Ridgewood YMCA and Camp Bernie work to ensure that more children have the opportunity to experience the friendships, adventure, independence, and personal growth that camp can provide.
For many children, camp is a place where they discover a new passion, gain confidence, or find a community where they truly feel at home. Financial support helps open the door to those experiences.
More than a summer camp
Camp Bernie’s work with children and families continues throughout the year.
From summer day and overnight camp to school vacation programs, enrichment activities, family events, and outdoor education experiences, Camp Bernie creates opportunities for people of all ages to connect, learn, and grow.
When school is out, kids can spend their time exploring, playing, and enjoying the outdoors. Families can come together during special events and family weekends. Schools and groups can experience hands-on learning and team building in the natural environment.
A community that makes a difference
Youth charities and nonprofit organizations play an important role in helping communities provide opportunities for the next generation.
At Camp Bernie, that support comes to life through campers, families, staff members, volunteers, donors, and community members who believe in giving children a place to belong.
A gift to the YMCA can help support programs and opportunities that make a difference in the lives of children and families. Whether through financial assistance, camp scholarships, or support for youth programs, every contribution helps strengthen the community.
