Outdoor Education
Hands-on learning in the great outdoors!
Camp Bernie’s Outdoor Education Programs offer a dynamic blend of adventure, learning, and personal growth for groups of all ages in the great outdoors. Rooted in hands-on experiences and meaningful connections, our programs are built around three core areas that work together to create lasting impact.
Why choose Camp Bernie?
- Curriculum-Aligned Learning: 30+ hands-on activities deepen understanding of science, ecology, and teamwork.
- Expert Outdoor Education Staff: Our trained facilitators design programs tailored to your goals, from STEM to social-emotional growth.
- Flexible Scheduling: Day trips, overnight stays, or multi-day retreats—all seasons, all grades.
- Proven Impact: Students build confidence, communication, and critical thinking through challenges like ropes courses, canoeing, and conservation projects.
Active Socialization Experience
At the heart of our team-building programs is the Active Socialization Experience—an interactive, adventure-based approach that brings groups together through play, problem-solving, and shared challenges. From warm-up games to imaginative scenarios like crossing a spider’s web or escaping a deserted island, each activity is designed to promote communication, trust, and collaboration. Guided by experienced instructors, ASE helps participants build stronger connections while having a blast in the outdoors.
Nature + Ecology-based Education
Camp Bernie’s natural setting offers the perfect backdrop for hands-on environmental learning. Through stream and forest ecology, guided nature hikes, critter shows, and wilderness survival skills, participants get to explore the outdoors in meaningful and memorable ways. These sessions inspire curiosity about the natural world while encouraging critical thinking, teamwork, and stewardship. Whether it’s identifying local wildlife or learning how to build a shelter, every experience is rooted in discovery and growth.
Challenge Courses + Adventure
For groups seeking a mix of excitement and personal challenge, our ropes courses, archery range, and classic camp adventures deliver big. Participants can push their limits on high or low-ropes elements, test their focus and aim with archery, or enjoy outdoor favorites like canoeing and hiking. These activities foster resilience, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment—all while creating unforgettable moments in the great outdoors.
