ASE/Confidence Course
The core of our Group Initiatives Course is where each group is presented with various obstacles, some more physical in nature than others. While success is the focus, we do not determine the group's success based on completion or speed, but rather by whether or not they make behavioral progress as a group. There are various levels of difficulty among the elements though, through creativity and flexibility, we can adapt just about any obstacle to be appropriate for almost any group. 1 1/2 hours, some Bernie staff required, F,W,S.

Climbing Tower
A 25-foot climbing and repelling tower that can be used as a separate unit or as an element of the Group Initiatives Course. Students are on what's known as dynamic belay, a system which allows students, in addition to pushing themselves physically, to face and hopefully overcome their fears. 15 students; 1 1/2 hours, Camp Bernie staff Required, F, S.

High Ropes Course
For 7th grade students and older, this is an extensive and intensive session which takes place 45 feet above the ground. An excellent team building activity and a logical extension of Climbing Tower where students support one another through encouragement and at the same time have an experience they will remember for a lifetime. 3 hours for 12 students, Early Fall and Late Spring, Camp Bernie staff required, extra charge required for additional instructor.

Impressions and Expressions
Through intriguing and unique activities, students obtain a different view of our environment - the Impressions. Then, through poetry or drawing they attempt to capture the impression phase - the Expressions. 1 1/2 hours, Camp Bernie or school staff, F,W,S.

Low Ropes Course
This course gives students direct control over their own success and safety. Students use encouraging words and physical spotting techniques to develop trust in each other, a positive team spirit, and the courage and confidence to overcome physical obstacles together in small groups. 1 1/2 hours, Camp Bernie staff, F,W,S

Orienteering
Learn the skill of finding your way in the outdoors with a compass. Utilizing several courses, students will put this knowledge to use in the fields and forests of YMCA Camp Bernie. A basic course is available for beginners and a 2-3 hour expert course which requires map reading and compass experience is also available. 1 1/2 hours, Camp Bernie or school staff, F,W, S.

Pre-ASE
This session will get the students ready for the ASE/Confidence Course by participating in group oriented activities geared toward working together. Students will learn some of the skills required for the more advanced cooperative learning elements. 1 1/2 hours, Camp Bernie or school staff, F,W,S.
